My experience with setting up my own blog is mostly easy and straightforward since I have used cPanel and WordPress before. The elements that are new to me are writing custom CSS and setting up Akismet anti-spam. I found the instructions and previous lab to be very helpful.
In terms of what I might do with this platform, I can introduce myself to the internet community and develop an online presence. It can also document my journey throughout the course and culminate into a portfolio.
“Rolling my own” website rather than using a hosted service or social media platform allows me to be in charge of the website’s layout and administration. However, this might also be a drawback since it requires me to take time in familiarizing myself with the different components of a website.
